Cannabidiol or CBD is one of many cannabinoids found in cannabis (marijuana) plants. CBD is the second most active ingredient found in medical marijuana. Compared to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is not psychoactive – meaning that it won’t get you high. Instead, CBD prevents anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. CBD oil is made by extracting the ingredient from the cannabis plant and diluting it with a carrier oil. Lee Journals breaks down the benefits of CBD.

Pain Relief

Cannabidiol is taken in multiple ways from oil, capsules, and vaping. One of the primary benefits of CBD is pain relief. Many scientists believe CBD may help relieve pain. People with chronic conditions like lupus and inflammation may use CBD to soothe the pain they experience. CBD is a natural treatment against pain for people who believe in holistic healing. The natural chemicals contained in CBD keep them from suffering from their life-long conditions.

Reducing Mental Disorder Symptoms

Another benefit of CBD is helping reduce symptoms of mental disorders. Believe it or not, CBD can help regulate anxiety disorders. While people with mental health disorders use pharmaceutical drugs to treat their symptoms, CBD is a natural alternative. In a Brazilian study, people, 57 men received either oral CBD or a placebo 90 minutes before a public speaking test. Researchers found that a 300-mg dose of CBD was the most effective at significantly reducing anxiety during the test. They also found that CBD oil will be used to safely treat anxiety and insomnia in children.

Treating Neurological Disorders

CBD is also known to help people who suffer from neurological disorders. Cannabidiol is approved as an anti-seizure medication and treats epilepsy. Treating neurological disorders are one of the most tested topics for CBD. One study found that 75% in 276 people with MS were experiencing muscle spasticity. Another study found that severe epilepsy was reduced to 36% in a group of 214 people who took CBD oil (2-5 grams per kg). Right now, CBD is being treated to treat other illnesses like Parkinson’s, Schizophrenia, diabetes, MS & anxiety.

Final Thoughts

While there are no scientific side effects for CBD, there may be some conditions. Gastrointestinal distress like diarrhea may occur. Drowsiness, irritable moods, reduced appetite, and sudden weight change may also happen. Please be careful when using CBD oils. We recommend you try other ways to relieve chronic issues before trying CBD. Consult with your doctor before trying CBD. Remember that CBD is not for recreational use, so use responsibly. Marijuana is different from CBD and this is not a replacement to get high. See if taking CBD is right for you.
